Experts' suggestions for the development of drug packaging

with the rapid development of the pharmaceutical industry, drug packaging materials and containers began to come to the front stage, becoming an important part of the development of pharmaceutical industrialization, and showing great development potential and business opportunities. After China's accession to the WTO, it has attracted international drug packaging enterprises to enter the Chinese market, further intensifying the competition in this industry. Therefore, how to improve the quality and technical level of the pharmaceutical packaging industry and promote the integration of China's pharmaceutical packaging industry with the world level has become a hot topic at the fourth China Hangzhou Pharmaceutical International Forum. At this forum, experts and scholars affirmed the remarkable progress of drug packaging in China in recent years. According to relevant data, the global pharmaceutical packaging market increased by 4.2% in 2003, with an output value of US $11.2 billion. Among them, the United States, Japan, Britain, Germany, France and Italy account for the largest market share of the world's pharmaceutical packaging industry. Although China's share is still small, it is the region with the fastest growth in pharmaceutical packaging production. According to the information provided by the forum, there are about 1500 pharmaceutical packaging enterprises in China, which can produce 43 varieties of pharmaceutical packaging materials in seven categories. The annual output value is about 15 billion yuan, with an annual growth rate of more than 10%, but it can only meet the needs of domestic pharmaceutical enterprises of about 80%. However, according to the development speed of traditional Chinese medicine industry in recent years, the annual output value of the pharmaceutical packaging industry will exceed 20billion yuan in the short term. At present, China's pharmaceutical packaging materials industry has formed a number of large enterprises and production bases, such as CICC pharmaceutical packaging, Nanfang packaging and other pressure and Drucker differential pressure transmitters, which are dominated by large enterprises producing pharmaceutical packaging. Anbu, Guangdong, Xiong County, Hebei, Jiangyin, Jiangsu and Longgang, Zhejiang, as a beautiful scenic spot of the exhibition, are known as the four major pharmaceutical packaging production bases. Some small-scale but numerous small pharmaceutical packaging enterprises have gathered together to support each other, forming a strong joint force and occupying a large market share. The level of packaging is relatively backward, but the problems of drug packaging in China are also obvious to all. Experts believe that, on the whole, the extensive growth with high speed, low efficiency and high consumption is a typical feature of the development of pharmaceutical packaging in China. It is reported that some manufacturers in the current market will use trapezoidal screw to replace ball screw in order to save costs and obtain greater profits. The packaging quality of most domestic pharmaceutical products is low, and there is still a big gap with developed countries. At present, 65% of China's pharmaceutical packaging products are not up to the level of developed countries in the world in the 1980s, and the quality of packaging materials and the contribution rate of packaging to the pharmaceutical industry are low. In developed countries, pharmaceutical packaging accounts for 30% of the value of drugs, while the proportion in China is only about 10%. Some experts believe that for some large-scale domestic pharmaceutical packaging enterprises, although the gap in hardware equipment is not large compared with foreign countries, the software environment is not satisfactory. Relevant professionals believe that there are many reasons for the gap, such as the low overall level of China's pharmaceutical industry; There is still a gap between the relevant regulations and technical standards of the pharmaceutical packaging industry and international standards; The pharmaceutical packaging research and development ability of enterprises can not keep up, and the emergence of endless new dosage forms puts forward higher requirements for packaging. Feng Guoping of the State Food and drug administration, who is specially designated to promote industrial development, believes in the report "current situation and development trend of drug packaging" that China's drug packaging industry is growing. In 2003, the national production of tablet packaging has reached 303.2 billion tablets, small volume injection packaging 23.3 billion tubes, infusion packaging 4billion bottles, but problems such as improper packaging and unqualified quality of drug packaging materials exist in drug packaging enterprises to varying degrees. Therefore, we must pay close attention to the formulation and implementation of relevant national drug packaging regulations. As a drug packaging production enterprise, we should comprehensively and strictly examine whether the drug packaging is appropriate, and formulate and improve the drug packaging enterprise and national standards at the same time. As a "special commodity", drug packaging has played an important role in protecting the safety and effectiveness of drugs and facilitating transportation, storage and sales since the processing and molding of drugs. It is the "second life" of drugs. However, in the traditional concept, drug raw materials, excipients and light packaging materials are more important, especially reflected in the packaging of over-the-counter drugs. Many experts pointed out that in the next five years, pharmaceutical packaging will become the second largest economic growth point of China's flexible packaging industry, and the market prospect is attractive. Enterprises should be fully prepared for this. Some experts believe that the pharmaceutical industry is an "eternal sunrise industry", and the same is true of the pharmaceutical packaging industry as a matching industry. After China's entry into WTO, domestic pharmaceutical enterprises should actively participate in the competition in the international market and promote the rapid improvement of drug packaging level. Although this puts forward higher requirements for the domestic industry, it also opens a broader market space for the drug packaging industry
